almost two.

April 16, 2012

This sweet boy turned 23 months yesterday. This means he will be 2 in just a few weeks and there will be no more “month” birthdays *tear*. When someone asks me how old he is, it’s already gone to “almost two”, then it will be “two”! Just craziness. In the last few months, he has definitely grown from being a baby to being a toddler. They have been some of my favorite months, watching him change every single day. Here are a few things he’s been doing lately.

  • He has been adding to his picky diet- only if Trey asks. Ha! We have found the key to getting him to eat more variety! His favorites are still pop tarts and cheese, but now will eat apples, bananas, any kind of bean, tortillas, rice, and the list goes on. YAY.
  • His vocabulary grows daily! He now says multiple word sentences all the time, like “Bubbles outside right now!” “watch a show?” “rock a lil bit?” “awww, man!” and the one he gets in trouble for: “No! I will!”
  • He still loves his bedtime routine- pjs, teeth, books (right now his favorites are Tumble BumbleGoodnight MoonBabies First 100 Animals, and Where is Baby’s Mommy? in no particular order. Then he wants to rock. We sing a combination of Edelweiss, Jesus Loves the Little Children, Moon River, and a variety of old hymns. Lately he’s been fussy even after all of that, so Trey usually has to go in there and be firm and tell him to go to sleep. Once he does, he sleeps around 11 hours. He wakes up between 6:30-6:45 and his first words every morning are “I hungry too, pop tart?”
  • He is so imaginative! We were in my closet the other day and he has his baby “Bana”. He finds a place in my clothes and hides her, then covers his eyes and starts counting “one two three four ten, ready not here come!” Then, he goes and “finds” Bana, and says “I find you, Bana!” So stinking cute.
  • He counts to twelve correctly most of the time and can spell his name, although he usually misses the “a” because he says it really fast “J-C-K Jack!” He knows his “birday comin’ up” and tells you he’ll be two, but holds up one finger!
  • He is ALWAYS on the go and is so good at finding stuff on his own to play with. And, he loves his sister. They play together a lot and he always wants to be wherever she is.
  • He loves to watch tv and his favorites are Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Doc McStuffins, and of course Mickey. But his very favorite is Despicable Me and he asks to watch it 24/7 “Spickable MEEEE?? Spickable MEEE!!!” are words I hear constantly!
  • He does this new face I have yet to catch in a picture, but when he does it we all laugh, so now he has learned he can do it when he is getting in trouble and of course we just laugh! He’s definitely got this momma wrapped around his finger!
  • He loves posing for pictures {see below} with his new cheesy pose…he leans over to one side and has the cutest grin ever!

Oh, little man. I can’t believe you’re almost TWO. I’m praying this month goes by slowly so I can soak in every minute of your last month as a one year old!
